Scalar mesons above and below 1 GeV
We show that two nonets and a glueball provide a consistent description of data on scalar mesons below 1.7 GeV. Above 1 GeV the states form a conventional qq̄ nonet mixed with the glueball of lattice QCD. Below 1 GeV the states also form a nonet, as implied by the attractive forces of QCD, but of more complicated nature. Near the center they are (qq)3̄(q̄q̄)3 in S-wave, with some qq̄ in P-wave, but ...
متن کاملAtmospheric proton and neutron spectra at energies above 1 GeV
We discuss an effective numerical method for solving the transport equations for cosmic ray nucleons in the atmosphere. It is demonstrated that the nucleon attenuation lengths are strongly energy and depth dependent due to the non-power-law behavior of the primary spectrum, growth of the total inelastic cross sections with energy, and scaling violation in the nucleon-nucleus interactions. The n...
متن کاملSpectral Content of Isoscalar Nucleon Form Factors
The nucleon strange vector and isoscalar electromagnetic form factors are studied using a spectral decomposition. The KK̄ contribution to the electric and magnetic radii as well as the magnetic moment is evaluated to all orders in the strong interaction using an analytic continuation of experimental KN scattering amplitudes and bounds from unitarity. The relationship between non-resonant and res...
متن کاملKK̄ - Continuum and Isoscalar Nucleon Form Factors
We analyse the isoscalar vector current form factors of the nucleon using dispersion relations. In addition to the usual vector meson poles, we account for the K ¯ K-continuum contribution by drawing upon a recent analytic continuation of KN scattering amplitudes. For the Pauli form factor all strength in the φ region is already given by the continuum contribution, whereas for the Dirac form fa...
متن کاملScalar Glueball-qq̄ Mixing above 1 GeV and implications for Lattice QCD
Lattice QCD predictions have motivated several recent studies of the mixing between the predicted J = 0++ glueball and a qq̄ nonet in the 1.3 → 1.7 GeV region. We show that results from apparently different approaches have some common features, explain why this is so and abstract general conclusions. We place particular emphasis on the flavour dependent constraints imposed by decays of the f0(13...
